Who is Travel the World Sue?

My name is Sue, and I was born in Louth, Lincolnshire, in the UK.

For most of my working life, I dedicated myself to a career as an NHS nurse. Nursing shaped who I am. It taught me resilience, compassion, and the importance of truly living life rather than postponing it. After decades of caring for others, I reached my 60th birthday with a clear decision: while I am still healthy, curious, and full of energy, I want to see the world.

Travel the World Sue was born from that promise to myself.

Today, I travel widely and independently, embracing new cultures, places, and experiences across the globe. This website is my way of sharing those journeys honestly and openly, from the practical realities of solo travel to the joy, freedom, and confidence it brings.

My hope is to inspire and reassure other single women over 60 that adventure does not have an expiry date. You do not need to wait for the “right time” or the “right companion”. If you are willing to take that first step, the world can open up in the most wonderful ways.

If my story encourages even one woman to book a trip she thought was no longer possible, then this journey has been more than worth it.
