#5 - Dress Appropriately
When travelling the world, one thing I’ve learned very quickly is that what you wear matters.
Different countries have very different expectations when it comes to clothing. What feels completely normal at home can sometimes feel out of place somewhere else. In many places, dressing a little more modestly isn’t just respectful – it also helps you blend in and avoid unwanted attention.
Temples, churches, and other religious sites often require shoulders and knees to be covered, and it’s always worth checking before you go. A light scarf or shawl in your bag can be a lifesaver and takes up hardly any space.
I’ve also discovered that dressing appropriately isn’t only about respecting culture – it’s about comfort too. Hot climates call for light fabrics, sun protection, and comfortable shoes for all that exploring.
Travel teaches you many things, and one of them is this: packing wisely and dressing with a little awareness makes the journey smoother, easier, and much more enjoyable.
After all, when you’re comfortable and respectful of local customs, you’re free to focus on the real reason you’re there — enjoying the adventure. ✈️🌍
